For athletes, few injuries are as daunting as an ACL tear. The road back can feel overwhelming, from the initial pain and swelling to the long months of physical therapy and training required to return to sport. At APEX PWR in Tigard, Oregon, we understand what athletes are going through because we have helped countless players, from competitive soccer and basketball athletes to weekend skiers, navigate this process.
ACL recovery is not just about healing a knee. It is about rebuilding strength, restoring confidence, and preparing the entire body for the demands of sport again. Here is what that journey can look like with us.
The early stage after ACL surgery is all about setting the groundwork. At six weeks post-op, the focus is on:
This phase may not be flashy, but it is absolutely critical. A strong foundation prevents future setbacks and paves the way for safe, effective progress.
Once swelling and basic mobility are under control, the emphasis shifts toward strength training and movement quality at APEX PWR in Tigard, OR. Our physical therapists and performance coaches use progressive overload, gradually increasing difficulty, to build the strength of the quads, hamstrings, and hips while restoring proper biomechanics.
We focus heavily on movement re-education: teaching athletes to squat, lunge, jump, and land safely – and confidently – again. These are the patterns that protect the new graft, reduce reinjury risk, and prepare athletes for the dynamic demands of sport.
We also utilize VALD testing technology to gather objective data and make informed decisions throughout the rehab journey. This allows the patient to understand where they are at with the progress on their surgical leg compared to their non-surgical leg.
ACL rehab is not finished when you can jog. It might not even be finished when you’re “cleared” by your doctor. Athletes need to sprint, cut, pivot, and absorb contact with confidence before stepping back onto the field or court. There are also testing metrics that are ideal to hit prior to going back into gameplay. At APEX PWR, our unique facility includes:
We build conditioning and strength alongside sport-specific skills to ensure athletes are physically and mentally ready for competition.
What also sets APEX PWR in Tigard, Oregon apart is our integration of VALD Performance technology. Even coaches, trainers and physical therapists with a well-trained eye can miss some critical insights. This advanced system provides real-time, objective data on:
Instead of guessing when an athlete is ready to advance, we use measurable benchmarks to guide every decision. This ensures safer progressions and a higher level of confidence for both the athlete and their care team.
Our mission at APEX PWR is simple: help athletes recover fully, return to play stronger, and minimize the risk of future injuries. Whether you are a college soccer player, a weekend warrior, or someone who just wants to move without pain, our ACL rehab blends science, coaching, and care to guide you every step of the way.
