“These women who looked so frail by the end of the study are able to, in some cases, pick up their own body weight off the ground, do a deadlift with their own body weight,” Dr. Attia shares.
“They gain strength and they really do hardcore powerlifting exercises. Like they’re not, you know, holding the little two-pound dumbbells, doing curls—they’re doing squats, they’re doing deadlifts, all sorts of things.”
Women who were once told to “take it easy” were now lifting barbells, deadlifting body weight, and doing full-body compound movements. Their confidence and strength skyrocketed.

Here’s the most astonishing part:
“By the end of this study, they defied something that we thought was possible,” Dr. Attia said. “We never thought it was possible to increase bone density… but amazingly in these women, based on the CT scans of their bones, they actually increased bone density.”
These women reversed bone loss, proving that aging doesn’t mean weakness—and strength is always possible.
