Female Athlete Testing & ACL Prevention in Portland

The testing trusted by the pros, now for your female athlete.

Female athletes tear their ACL at several times the rate of males in the same sports, and the strength and landing mechanics behind that risk are trainable. We use the same VALD force plates and speed gates as college programs to test, train and protect girls and high-school female athletes across the Portland metro.

Why it matters for female athletes

The game is won in the details.

Female athletes are built to compete at the highest level, and they face a markedly higher ACL injury rate that targeted strength and landing training can reduce. Every one of those qualities can be measured, and trained, at our Tigard facility serving the Portland area.

ACL & landing mechanics

Female athletes face higher ACL risk. How each leg absorbs and controls landing is testable and trainable.

Strength & symmetry

Left-to-right strength gaps raise injury risk. We measure and close them on force plates and other VALD equipment.

Speed & power

Faster, more explosive athletes win and get hurt less. We clock both on gates and force plates.

Hamstring & hip

Hamstring and hip strength protect the knee. VALD equipment screens them in minutes.

Strength & power, measured

Female athlete strength & power, on real numbers.

We measure jump, landing control and strength on VALD force plates and speed and power on the gates, then build the strength and movement that drive performance and protect the knee. The full VALD suite lives in one 10,000 sq ft facility, alongside our physical therapy team.

Speed Gates

Acceleration, top speed and split times, measured to the hundredth of a second.

Force Plates

How much force each leg produces, brakes and absorbs through a jump and landing.

Strength & balance

Hip, groin and hamstring strength and left-to-right balance, screened in minutes.

Targeted strength

Joint and muscle strength testing for precise, objective milestones.

Female athlete training in Portland

Female athlete speed & strength training, year-round.

The assessment is where we start, not where we stop. From the results, your athlete trains with our coaches in small semi-private groups on a plan built from their own numbers. Off-season we build the foundation. In-season we maintain it and manage load so they stay fast and healthy through the schedule. We retest each quarter so progress shows up in real numbers, then adjust as your athlete develops.

Off-season: build

Strength, power and landing-control blocks to build a resilient, explosive athlete before the season.

In-season: maintain

Strength and speed maintenance with landing and load management to keep performance up and ACL risk down.

Speed & control

Acceleration, change-of-direction and single-leg control, coached against the numbers from your athlete's testing.

Strength training

Quad, hamstring and hip strength and left-to-right balance, the factors that protect the knee and raise performance.

Training starts with a Sports Science Assessment so we build the right plan from real data.

ACL injury prevention for female athletes in Portland

Get ahead of ACL injuries.

Female athletes face several times the ACL injury risk of males, driven by landing mechanics and strength factors that are modifiable. We screen hamstring, quad, hip and groin strength and balance on VALD equipment, and how each leg absorbs landing on the force plates, then build the strength that lowers risk. As a physical therapy clinic at our core, prevention is in our DNA and we have the data to highlight normal standards for your female athlete.

ACL tear prevention & return-to-play

ACL tear prevention for female athletes, and a confident return.

Because female athletes face a markedly higher ACL risk, testing the strength and landing mechanics behind it matters even more. After an injury we map return-to-play to objective milestones on the force plates, using the same ACL norms college programs use, not just a date on the calendar. Your athlete returns when the numbers say they are ready.

At APEX PWR in Tigard, minutes from Portland and Beaverton. Every athlete starts with a Sports Science Assessment on VALD force plates and speed gates, the same technology used across women's college programs, plus a full movement and strength evaluation. We work with athletes ages 8 to 18.

Why are female athletes at higher risk of ACL tears?

Female athletes tear their ACL at several times the rate of males in the same sports, driven by landing mechanics and strength factors that are modifiable. We screen those factors and build the strength and movement that lower the risk.

Is strength training safe and appropriate for girls?

Yes. As a physical therapy clinic at our core, we prioritize age & development appropriate strength training. Strength training is safe, effective and protective for developing female athletes when coached well.

What do you actually measure?

Jump and landing control, left-to-right strength symmetry, hamstring and hip strength, and speed and power, on VALD equipment, including force plates and speed gates. Every plan is built from those numbers and re-tested to track progress.

How does pricing work?
