Thrive in 2025: Building Sustainable Fitness Habits with Coach Adela

Hey ladies (and everyone else, too)!
While this series is dedicated to Female Fitness, the tips in this article are universally helpful. With the New Year in full swing, it’s the perfect time to focus on building simple, sustainable habits that can transform your health and fitness journey—not just for the year, but for life. At APEX Performance Wellness & Rehab, we’re here to help you Thrive in 2025 and beyond.
Let’s start by introducing the inspiring Coach Adela! Not only is she a wellness specialist and customer success expert here at APEX, but she’s also a competitive weightlifter, a mother of two, and a certified personal trainer specializing in pregnancy and postpartum fitness. Adela knows firsthand how challenging it can be to balance fitness with the demands of motherhood. After her own pregnancies, she often felt isolated, unsure of how to return to exercise and rediscover her strength. Through these experiences, she’s made it her mission to help others regain their confidence and embrace their unstoppable selves.
Here are Adela’s top three tips to help you start 2025 strong, with habits that stick:
1. Set Specific Goals
Vague resolutions like “work out more” can be hard to measure and stick to. Instead, start with small, actionable goals. For example:
- Commit to one gym session a week. Once that becomes a habit, gradually increase to two or more.
- Aim to complete 8,000 steps a day instead of saying “be more active.”
Breaking goals into smaller, achievable steps builds momentum, keeps you motivated, and sets you up for long-term success. If you’d like help setting goals in health, wellness, nutrition or fitness, our team is here for you!
2. Habit Stack Your Way to Consistency
Pairing new habits with established ones is a game-changer. This makes it much easier to introduce new habits when you surround them with ones that are already established. Here are a few ideas:
- Morning Routine: If you already have coffee every morning, try drinking a glass of water before your first cup.
- Breakfast Boost: Add 20 grams of protein to your breakfast to fuel your day.
- Daily Walks: When you grab the mail, take an extra lap around the block.
By stacking a new habit onto something you already do regularly, it becomes easier to stay consistent without feeling overwhelmed.
3. Identify and Overcome Barriers
Sometimes, the hardest part of fitness is just getting started. Identify what’s holding you back and find practical solutions:
- Time Crunch? Find a gym or convenient place for your fitness journey. Having fitness be easily accessible is key to staying on track. If you’d like a customized workout program to execute on your own, our team can outline that for you!
- Feeling Intimidated? Start with at-home workouts or a beginner-friendly group class to build confidence. Our group options at APEX provide varying levels of movements so you can choose what works best for you!
- Lack of Motivation? Schedule workouts with a friend or trainer for accountability.
Simplify the process as much as possible to remove barriers, so you can focus on progress instead of excuses.
Bonus Tip: Embrace the Journey
Remember, fitness is not a straight path—it’s a winding journey. Life happens, and it’s okay to have setbacks. What matters most is getting back on track and staying consistent over time. Building new habits takes patience, and every small step forward is a victory worth celebrating.
At APEX, we’re here to support you every step of the way. Whether it’s through nutrition coaching (join our CHALLENGE), personal training, group fitness classes, or wellness testing like DEXA scans, we’re committed to helping you crush your goals.
Let’s make 2025 your strongest year yet! 💪
