Why Hyrox needs specific training
You run 8 x 1 km intervals with eight functional stations between them, 60 to 90-plus minutes of strategic pacing. It is not a HIIT class and not a pure strength workout, so training random hard days does not prepare you for race day.
String stations together the way the course does, so transitions and pacing feel automatic on race day.
Most athletes go too hard. We teach threshold pacing so you move through strength stations without blowing up.
Running is where races are won or lost. We build run skill and economy, not just compromised running.
Meet your coach
Dr. Kevin Le, DPT combines endurance coaching, sports physical therapy, and hybrid training experience from his days competing in Ironman events. He teaches athletes to run efficiently, manage threshold pacing, move through strength stations without blowing up, and hold technique under fatigue. That blend of PT and coaching also helps athletes avoid the common Hyrox injuries.
What Kevin emphasizes:Â running skill before compromised running, pacing discipline (most athletes need to slow down), the right amount of strength rather than maximal strength, and practicing race flow, transitions, and technique. Endurance principles matter, so you cannot go hard every session.

Athletes regularly drive 30, 40, even 60 miles to train at APEX for full Hyrox equipment and space, expert coaching from Dr. Kevin Le, DPT, and physical therapy, VO2 max, lactate, and DEXA testing in the same building. At APEX PWR in Tigard, minutes from Portland, in a nearly 10,000 sq ft facility with race-specific equipment, coached by Dr. Kevin Le, DPT. Sessions run Saturdays with beginner and advanced groups.
No. We run a beginner session for athletes new to Hyrox who want technique, rules, and pacing, and an advanced session for experienced athletes who want race-style intensity and sequencing.
APEX combines Hyrox-specific equipment and turf lanes, coaching from a Doctor of Physical Therapy and endurance specialist, and physical therapy plus VO2 max, lactate, and DEXA testing in the same building, so you train, test, and recover in one place.
